Technical Assistance Programs
The Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) and Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) offer training and customized technical assistance and coaching to District of Columbia Medicaid providers at no charge to help you position your practice for success. Our goal is to provide you with useful information, tools, and supports for practice transformation to build your capacity to achieve better care and outcomes.
We help practices build their capacity to:
- Operate more effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.
- Provide integrated, team-based care.
- Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships.
- Leverage electronic health information technology (IT).
- Provide quality continuing education for staff and leadership.
Our technical assistance and coaching services include:
- Coaches skilled in helping practices meet clinical, business, and health IT goals.
- Continuing education courses and webinars for providers, staff, and leadership.
- Customized training development and delivery.
- Technical assistance site visits.
- Workflow redesign and implementation.

DBH Training Institute
Description: The DBH Training Institute offers behavioral health courses online live and on-demand, including continuing education courses approved by the District of Columbia Board of Social Work and National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.

eHealthDC Health IT
Description: DHCF’s eHealthDC helps providers adopt and use electronic health record (EHR) and health information technologies (health IT) to securely exchange electronic health data to improve care coordination and quality of care.

HCBS Digital Health
Description: DHCF’s two-part HCBS Digital Health TA program includes the (1) HCBS Promoting Interoperability (PI) Program, an incentive program that rewards HCBS providers for meeting milestones to adopt and implement Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) systems and connect to the DC Health Information Exchange (DC HIE), and (2) HCBS Telehealth Program, which builds on the efforts to expand the use of CEHRT, extends telehealth investments, and encourages the use of remote patient monitoring devices. The HCBS Telehealth Program is not an incentive program.
Eligibility: Free to home and community-based services (HCBS) providers, including behavioral health (BH), long term care (LTC), disability services (DDS) and housing support services (HSS) providers

Integrated Care DC
Description: Integrated Care DC, managed by DHCF in partnership with DBH, offers live continuing education webinars, personalized coaching, and a variety of learning resources to help you and your practice team build your capacity to address complex medical, behavioral health, and social needs. Health Management Associates (HMA) is contracted to provide training and technical assistance.
Eligibility: Free to all DC Medicaid providers, with several options for participation.
